About
This case study highlights my role as a design lead in a development team for Datometry qInsight, a
revolutionary platform that redefines data warehousing by leveraging virtualization principles. The
platform enables applications originally developed for on-premises data warehouses to seamlessly run
on any major cloud data warehouse without requiring code or configuration changes. Through close
collaboration with stakeholders, product owners, developers, and testers, I played a pivotal role in
creating the MVP and designing the initial user interface for qInsight.
Goals
The primary objective was to design a user-friendly and intuitive interface for Datometry
qInsight that would enable enterprises to rapidly replatform their applications to the cloud with
minimal effort.
The goal was to simplify the adoption of new database technologies while preserving the
intrinsic value of existing applications.
Development
Process
Understanding phase
Conducted extensive research on Datometry qInsight and its innovative approach to data
warehousing.
Collaborated closely with stakeholders and product owners to gain a comprehensive understanding
of the platform's capabilities and target user requirements.
Agile Development and Collaboration
Embraced an Agile development approach, working closely with cross-functional teams, including
product owners, developers, and testers.
Participated in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews to ensure efficient
coordination and alignment among team members.
MVP Development
Led the design efforts to create the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) of qInsight, focusing on essential
features and functionality.
Created wireframes and interactive prototypes to visualize and validate the user flows and
interactions within the platform.
User Interface Design
Led the design efforts to create the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) of qInsight, focusing on essential
features and functionality.
Created wireframes and interactive prototypes to visualize and validate the user flows and
interactions within the platform.
Iterative Design and Feedback
Gathered feedback from users, stakeholders, and team members to continuously iterate and improve the
user interface design.
Conducted usability testing and incorporated user insights to refine the interface, ensuring
a seamless user experience.
